Choosing the Right Film for Your Application

Cast vs. Blown: The Quick Guide

Choosing the correct film base is critical for machine performance and load security. Our films are engineered to maximize the pre-stretch capabilities of all major machine carriages.

Cast Clear Film is produced by cooling molten resin on a chilled roll. It is whisper-quiet - ideal for busy facilities - and offers crystal clarity for scanning barcodes.
Blown Duty Film is created via a vertical bubble process. It is significantly "stickier" with superior puncture resistance for bricks, sharp metal, or irregular loads.
Hybrid "Blown-Like" Cast utilizes advanced multi-layer co-extrusion to provide the extreme puncture resistance of a blown film with the quiet unwind and clarity of a cast film.
Feature Cast Clear Hybrid Cast Blown Duty
Noise Whisper Quiet Quiet High Tack / Loud
Clarity Optically Clear High Clarity Translucent / Hazy
Puncture Standard Extreme Industrial Max

Technical Specifications: Gauge vs. Micron Yield

Understanding film thickness is critical for cost-per-pallet calculations. Our high-performance films allow for "downgauging" - using a thinner, stronger film to achieve the same load containment as thicker, traditional wraps.

Gauge (Mil) Micron (µm) Best Use Case / Load Type
60 Gauge 15.2 Micron Light loads / Uniform B-type pallets
70 Gauge 17.8 Micron Standard shipping / Mid-weight boxes
75 Gauge 19.1 Micron Versatile Performance / Multi-purpose
80 Gauge 20.3 Micron The Industrial Standard / Most Popular
90 Gauge 22.9 Micron Heavy Duty / Increased Puncture Resistance
100 Gauge 25.4 Micron Heavy Machinery / C-Type Pallets
115 Gauge 29.2 Micron Extreme Duty / High-Tension Wrapping
120 Gauge 30.5 Micron Maximum Security / Irregular Industrial Loads

Advanced Film Technology & Specialty Handling

Chemical Protection

Our lab-certified UVI stabilizers and VCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor) additives are integrated into the film to guarantee up to 12 months of outdoor UV defense and molecular anti-rust protection.

True ESD Anti-Static

Specifically treated ESD-Safe films reliably dissipate static charge (105–1012 ohms) without leaving chemical residue - critical for sensitive PCBA electronics and telecommunications.

Maximum Airflow

Precision Die-Cut Vented wraps and heavy-duty extruded HDPE Pallet Netting provide massive ventilation and off-gassing to prevent condensation for hot-fill foods and perishables.

Machine Core Sizing

We supply narrow machine rolls (4" to 10") perfectly wound on Universal 3" and 1.5" ID Cores to seamlessly match the film carriages of modern horizontal and orbital wrappers.

Branding & Security

Utilize opaque colors for high-value cargo privacy, or Custom Printed logos utilizing elastomeric inks to create un-patchable, tamper-evident seals for LTL shipments.

Machine Optimized

Every roll is gauged for Total System Compatibility with Dynawrap carriages, ensuring optimal pre-stretch tension and zero-tear performance at high rotational speeds.

Most warehouses are over-wrapping by 20% or more. Our technical team can help you identify the exact film and machine settings required to maximize containment while minimizing cost-per-pallet.

  • Engineered Downgauging: Reduce plastic waste by up to 25% without losing load security.
  • Application Optimization: Match film "memory" and tension to your Dynawrap or Edda system.
  • Custom Rate Locks: Ask about volume-based pricing for high-consumption facilities.

Stretch Film Selection: Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Cast and Blown stretch film?

Cast film offers superior clarity and a quieter application, making it ideal for standard loads where scanning barcodes through the wrap is necessary. Blown film offers higher puncture resistance and "cling," making it better for heavy, sharp, or irregular industrial loads.

How do I know which gauge thickness I need?

Gauge depends on your load stability and weight. 60–70 gauge is typically used for lightweight, stable loads. 80 gauge is our industrial standard for most palletized goods, while 100+ gauge is recommended for heavy, irregular, or high-stress industrial applications.

Will this film work on my existing wrapping machine?

Yes. Our machine-grade films are engineered to work with standard power-pre-stretch carriages found on Dynawrap, Edda, and most major orbital or turntable wrappers. If you have a specific pre-stretch requirement, let our team know.

Can I use stretch wrap to bundle long products, like pipes or profiles?

Absolutely. While we recommend horizontal (orbital) wrappers for high-volume bundling, our high-performance films provide the necessary stretch and retention for manual bundling of long products like steel tubing, PVC, or aluminum extrusions.
